Dr. Xiaolei (Shelley) Shi serves as a Program Specialist for Translational Research in both the Early Entrepreneurship in Residence (EEIR) Program and the Technological Entrepreneurship Office at UW-Madison. She is also a senior scientist in the Chemical &Biological Engineering Department, focusing on dairy-related research. With a passion for entrepreneurial research, she brings more than 15 years of experience in applied research in broader STEM fields, as well as a strong background in patent disclosure and startup company foundations. She leverages her expertise in STEM research and federal regulations, along with established connections with hospitals, government agencies, companies, and universities, in her role as a liaison for UW-Madison’s entrepreneurial teams and the NSF Great Lakes Hub I-Corps Tech Scouting Program. She also co-founded a UW-Madison spin-out company, Ninjas Printing. She has supported the Dairy Research and Engineering/Manufacturing teams at UW in seeking I-Corps and SBIR/STTR funding from federal agencies such as NASA, NSF, and USDA.
