Remzi Arpaci-Dusseau

Remzi Arpaci-Dusseau is the Director of the School of Computer, Data & Information Sciences (CDIS) and Special Advisor to the Provost on Computing at UW-Madison. A leading researcher in storage and distributed systems, he co-leads a research group with Professor Andrea Arpaci-Dusseau, whose innovations are widely adopted in commercial systems.
Previously, Remzi served as Chair of the Computer Sciences Department, playing a key role in advancing the school’s mission. His contributions have earned him numerous accolades, including the ACM-SIGOPS Mark Weiser Award and fellowships from both the ACM and AAAS. An award-winning educator, he has received UW-Madison’s Professor-of-the-Year honor seven times. His widely used operating systems textbook (OSTEP) is downloaded millions of times annually.
