Our Mission
Our focus isn’t just on fostering entrepreneurship; it’s about equipping teams with the skills and insights needed to excel in the competitive landscape of innovation. By supporting the concepts and teachings of NSF I-Corps, mentors contribute directly to the growth and development of future innovators, making a tangible impact on the entrepreneurial ecosystem.
The Role of an I-Corps Mentor
An I-Corps Mentor serves as an integral member of the instructional team, providing guidance, feedback, and expertise to teams throughout their journey.
From attending orientations to conducting mentoring meetings, mentors play a hands-on role in helping teams refine their ideas, conduct meaningful interviews, and develop viable strategies for success.
By sharing professional backgrounds, experiences, and insights, mentors foster trust and collaboration within teams, empowering them to navigate challenges and seize opportunities with confidence.
Through regular communication via Slack and diligent documentation of feedback, mentors ensure that teams stay on track and make the most of their I-Corps experience.
Investing in Mentorship
The time commitment for an I-Corps Mentor varies depending on the program track, ranging from 2-4 hours a week for the local cohort to 7-15 hours a week for the national program. Mentors engage in pre-session meetings, attend class sessions and debriefs, and conduct mentoring meetings with their assigned teams.
